3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20Plastic bottle from Penny, dark chestnut with a fast-settling beige head, nose has light hints of nuts, toffe and plums, body is dry and a bit nutty with some roast malt and very faint coffee notes, then burnt caramel and some salty sweetness coming through. Pretty good for the price.

Bottle shared with McTapps. Unexpected winterber as this one is more of a stout. Coffee and nuts with in the dominance. Quite nice for a very cheap discounter-beer.

Bottle shared with MichaelBruch. Deep brown-black in colour with big head. Smooth body. Nose of rich malt. Taste of malt, roasted grains, nuts, coffee with milk and thyme. Very easy to drink. Solid Dunkel.

500 ml bottle. Pours clear dark brown with quickly vanishing brownish head. Mild roasy malt aroma. Average mild roasty malty Schwarzbier taste with a good roasty palate. Pretty good for a discount beer!

Tiny brownish head that vanishes instantly. Clear dark brown colour. Malty roast aroma. Rather neutral taste. Roasty palate with strong coffee notes. Really good for a discount beer.

Dark amber color with a beige head. Aroma is caramel. Dry taste of roasted malt and caramel.

330 ml plastic bottle in Germany with much thanks to Koelschtrinker. Pours a deep brown color. Light brown head. Caramel aroma with bananas. Taste is sweet, sugar with more caramel. Sticky, malt , thin palate. Not great.

Weich röstiger und dezent süßer Beginn. Die Röstigkeit sinkt leicht und bleibt dann konstant, wenig karamellig. Dann breiter malzig, zum Ende bitter. Ein durchaus gelungenes Dunkles! 11/11/10/11/8/11

Single bottle purchased from a PennyMarkt in Geising, Germany on 11/29/2011. Colour: Looks like Coca-cola, with little head. Nose: Touches of cocoa and toffee among burnt oak. Slight barnyard yeast. Taste: Medium-light sweet, medium bitter, light sour. The bitterness is thick late. There is a saltiness. Tastes more burnt than complex roasted. Promising nose - not quite the same follow through with the taste.
