COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black bears can weigh 600lbs, sprint over 25mph and climb like a squirrel. They have terrible eyesight, yet can smell you 20 miles away especially if your packing fruity gorp and apples. Hey, to a bear, you’re just like a 180lb fruit bowl coming down the trail! Bear Naked Ale is an all natural medium-bodied amber ale with a brilliant copper hue. Top fermenting ale yeast and a high proportion of imported Munich malt create a clean and crisp beer with a toasty, fruity backbone. Don’t get caught with your pants down, drink responsibly.

On Tap at Brewery. Amberish color with a thin cream head. Aroma is a little toasty with just a touch of hops. Flavor is almost like an attempt to provide equal parts caramel malt, hop bitterness, and some toastiness. Non-offensive, but very different. Easily quaffable.

UPDATED: AUG 22, 2008 Clear golden body. Very light pine smell. Light caramel and some shy hops. Boring. Draft at brewpub. So devoid of anything that it should really be called the Bare Naked Ale.

UPDATED: MAY 28, 2013 On tap at the brewpub with a 4-5oz sampler. Minty aroma with some floral notes. A bit of spiciness, but somewhat bizarre aroma. Pineyness is also present. Mildly hazy golden color with an off-white head. Sweet, spicy, malty with some toffee. Not totally assertive, yet some maltiness in the middle. Finishes with a touch of spicy hops. This is supposed to be an altbier? WTF? (4/2/5/3/9) ~~~~~~~RE-RATE~~~~~~~~~12 ounce bottle purchased from the Rouses Point Beer Emporium. The aroma is nicely toasted with some munich maltiness. Light metallic and floral hoppiness is also there. Pretty good aroma. Transparent orange body with a small to medium off-white head. Decent retention. Starts off a little bland with a touch of sweetness. Light toasted maltiness is present in the middle. This leaves a little astringency. Lingering cereal and toasted malts come through late, with very little bitterness. Lightly chalky, and a little thin. Not as bad as the first time I had this, but it’s likely due to my palate being better when it comes to this style of beer.

Almost non-existent nose. What is there is light toast and maybe a bit of fruit. Light gold body, thin head. Surprisingly rich malt flavor (I thought this was a golden when I had it) with some dark fruits, sulfur.

(Draught) Pours a thin, white, creamy and quick dissipating head. Body is amber. Lightly hopped with a mild malt. Above average.

Mildly sweet aroma. Dark, golden colour with white head that recedes to cover. Sweet and lightly malty with a gentle bitterness. Light, refreshing body. On tap at the brewpub.

Light caramel among thin and dry apricot juice...No finish to speak of...Again no brewing problems except that lack of pleasurable taste...Which could be a problem when you want to have something else than soda...

Sample at the brewpub. Simple malty-sweet nose, medium clear gold color, sweet and innocuous on the palate...really nothing in the way of hops. I'm not coming up with anything interesting to say, so I'll stop now.
