Beaver-Tail Brown is our American-style brown ale- despite its dark mahogany, color this beer is crisp and hoppy, due to a generous Amarillo dry-hop.

Bottle. Aroma is citrusy and nutty with toasted malts. Taste is mild hops, nuts, coffee and citrus. Very nice version of a brown ale. A little over carbonated for my taste.

12oz bottle. Pours a near clear, deep caramel with a large, off white head. Aroma has pleasant/ notes of citrus, pine, a bit of resin, and very dainty roast. Taste is balanced. Pine, citrus, and resin at the beginning then hunts of roast, then into a citrus, pine finish. Almost like a nice APA. Medium body and carbonation. Clean and refreshing in the mouth with a big, dry finish. Overall a nice, American brown. Like a good APA mixed with hints of roasted malts.

On draft at Adirondack. Pours a mostly clear amber with a creamy off-white head. Nose is toasted malts, hints of coffee, and some nuts. Flavor is similar with toasted malts, slight coffee in the mid and mild nuts going into the finish. Dries out on the back end with coffee going in and out the whole time. Light to medium in body and a nice brown overall.

Reviewed from notes. This was poured into a mug. The appearance was a decent looking dark brown color with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. There was some light stringy lacing glossing along the glass. The smell had a nice roasty to sweet nutty to caramel maltiness backed up by a light toffee. The taste was mainly sweet with a decent roasty nutty flavoring leading to a dry finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was somewhat subdued. Overall, I say this was a pretty good brown ale well worthy of having again.

Bottle, bbotmc. Murky brown with a thick, frothy, cream-colour head. Yeasty aroma with some toast and dust. Pecan and plastic in the mouth followed by bitterness. Very carbonated, full body and a little nutty aftertaste.

Bottle. Better Beer Of The Month Club. Hazy Dark amber with a big frothy beige head. Aroma of citric, floral and piney hops, malt and a caramel note. Sweetish malt flavor, slightly caramelly, a bit biscuity, with some citric and piney hops, a toasty note and a moderately bitter finish. Medium-bodied. Not really a Brown Ale, but a pleasant beer nonetheless.

Clear Mahogany with a big foamy head. Aroma citrusy and crisp, with a caramel undertone. Taste fairly hoppy, crisp, malty but still a little hop balanced. Some caramel notes and something woody. Probably too hoppy and too high ABV for the style, but then again this is an "American" brown ale, so thatís hardly surprising. Nicely drinkable, overall.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass. Hazy light brown with a decent beige head. Mild nutty nose, with biscuit, bread and earthy hops. Malty, some caramel, nuts, mud, medium bitterness and bready notes. Slightly over carbonated, medium bodied, balanced and overall OK.

Bottle from Half time. Pours dark brown with a half inch of khaki foam that disappears very quickly. Has some citrus on the nose. The taste is also fairly hop forward. Canít say, outside of the color, Iím getting much of the stylistic characteristics one assures comes with a brown ale. If I wanted a pale ale, I would have bought one.
