12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown color with hints of red, a small off-white head. The aroma is sweet berries and caramel, alcohol heat hits you. The aroma is very robust almost pushing toward some of the fruity malt driven Belgian Ales or a Barley Wine. The flavor is very nice; sweet nutty and fruity malts, toffee, loads of sweetness here, hefty, a big brew! This is a hell of a Summer seasonal. Very much dominated by sweet sugars and dark fruity malts. Very good. Quite hot.

Bottle. Pours a clear amber brown with a light brown head that starts at the edges and remains. Aroma is full of sweet malts with caramel, biscuit and cookies with a bit of backing alcohol. Flavor starts with some sweet bread and grows in sweetness with cookies, caramel and a hit of chocolate. A bit of an alcohol burn in the finish. A bit sweet for my liking.

TAP NY 2008. Dark in color with a little head. Aroma is very sweet initailly leading me to talk to the brewery. They caramelize the malt without liquid before the boiling. Brings out nice sweetness in aroma and taste. Some mellow smoke and the aldohol is hidden well. Great 1st beer of the day.

Growler. Poured a hazed dark brown color with an off-white head. The aroma has some roasty malty caramel sweetness with notes of coffee and smoke. The coffee notes came out in the flavor even more. Especially as this warmed. Medium bodied. Not too bad.

On Tap at Brewery. Dark amber/brown color with a thin head of cream. Aroma is a touch smoky, which is a good sign for me. I like a bit of smoke in my scotch ales. Flavor is a quick burst of sweetness that is quickly tempered by a good dose of smoked peat. Good quality scotch.
