COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A big rich and malty Scotch ale featuring a robust flavor but with a smooth mouth feel. Generous amounts of caramel malts and kettle caramelization contribute to the rich malty flavor balanced out with just the right amount of imported hops.

Fat Scotsman Ale is a tribute to the Scottish Lockhart Clan who emigrated from Scotland to Lake George region in the early 1800’s.

Bottle courtesy of Doodler poured a clear reddish brown with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of toffee, carmel, molasses, whiskey, vanilla and oak. Palate was medium bodied anmd smooth. Flavors of toffee, carmel, whiskey, light molasses, light vanilla and a hint of oak with a smooth lingering carmel finish.

Butterscotch as the mainspring of this creamy nitro feel...Earthy caramel lazily covering the shy alcohol...The fear of oncoming oxidation in the back of the palate sways enjoyment astray...Still, this was by far their best offering that day...

Bottle. Pours a clear amber brown with a light brown head that starts at the edges and remains. Aroma is full of sweet malts with caramel, biscuit and cookies with a bit of backing alcohol. Flavor starts with some sweet bread and grows in sweetness with cookies, caramel and a hit of chocolate. A bit of an alcohol burn in the finish. A bit sweet for my liking.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours brown with a tan head. Smells of some light smoke, caramel, some sweet malty undertones. Tastes full bodied with some light peaty hints, sweet caramel, and a nice spicy finish.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark brown color with hints of red, a small off-white head. The aroma is sweet berries and caramel, alcohol heat hits you. The aroma is very robust almost pushing toward some of the fruity malt driven Belgian Ales or a Barley Wine. The flavor is very nice; sweet nutty and fruity malts, toffee, loads of sweetness here, hefty, a big brew! This is a hell of a Summer seasonal. Very much dominated by sweet sugars and dark fruity malts. Very good. Quite hot.

Supposed to be the best the pub has to offer. We probably were badlucky because this one was so bad that it became a running gag between the four of us. Indescribable taste. Infected. Draft at brewpub. Lake George is famous for its Water Amusement Park but I didn’t think they would use the soiled water from the children’s pool to brew beer.

(Druahgt) Pours a thin, beige head with a mahogany body. Nose of sweet caramel, brown sugar and light scotch. Oily, warm and inviting. Mild, smooth caramel with scotch flavour. A real throat tickler! Yummy!

A touch of alcohol with some buttery dacetyl. Nitro white head on dark brown body. Buttery diacetyl also apparent in the big malty flavour with only a hint of the alcohol apparent. Creamy mouthfeel and full-body. On tap at the brewpub.
