Moravius (607) - Berlin, GERMANY - SEP 16, 2014
Flasche.

Draft at the brewery in May 2013: Burnished gold. Broken white head. Aroma is comprised of earthy toast and breadcrust along with hints of cheesy yeast, grassy hops, DMS and an elegant dab of fruitiness. Fuzzy carbonation deposits a foamy residue on the tongue. Opens with a pleasantly contrasting mix of minerals and fruity apricot roundness. Refined malt supplies a springy new-mown hay and uncured hay which dovetails nicely with the caramelized sugar and toasty grip. Grainy malt slowly creeps in and lends a light astringency, though it remains predominantly firm and focused in its toastiness. Malt character is somewhat stark and and hollow, however, exhibiting ample flavor yet failing to aid the body with much texture. Finishes with some licorice-root hop bitterness amid a fresh-picked hop character. A pretty simply version, and the seemingly high filtration doesn’t help. Uninspiring.
