COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask: Special - JD Wetherspoon Beer Festival.
Session Ale
Adam Avery and Steve Breezley have travelled to Adnams Brewery, in Suffolk, which is hosting an international brewer for us for the first time, to collaborate in brewing this beer specially for this Wetherspoon real ale festival. Although brewed at a session-beer strength, this beer is hopped like a true IPA, including dry-hopping in the cask, creating a pine-like and citrus aroma and a full on hop character throughout the flavour and finish.
Hops used: Amarillo, Centennial, Simcoe

Cask at The Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 24 Oct 2012. Poured a clear amber, with a dense off white head. Aroma of pine, fresh hops and lemon zest. Citrus hop flavour, with peal and earthy notes. Finish was lingering resin, hay and biscuit. A lot of flavour for the ABV.

Cask Pint – JDW Fest Autumn 2012 - Amber in colour. Hoppy; piney resinous and earthy hops. Fruity; grapefruit citrus. Malty; toasty biscuity malts. Full flavoured for low ABV. Resinous hops and citric bitterness throughout; dry assertive bitter finish. Decent. Nice half IPA!

Oct, 2012. JDW, Rochester. Big hop burst on this session bitter. Malt is dry and well integrated with bittering hops. Hop character is a little sharp and brittle for my taste, dominating the malt.

Cask-conditioned at the Commercial Rooms, Bristol, November 2012. Deep amber with with a slight, white head. Big orange and tropical fruit aroma, with some caramel sweetness and pine resin. Flavour was sweet and jammy, with plenty more orange and pineapple, some biscuit malts and a dry finish. A lot going on for 3.5% ABV.

Knights Templar, Chancery Lane 1 Nov 12. Gyldenbrum. Lavt skum. God fruktaroma. Grapefrukt. Smaken litt tørr, syrlig frukt. Holder seg en god stund og avslutter tørt. Veldig god for styrken! Det var første øl i Wetherspoons ølfestival denne høsten.

Cask at the old jailhouse, Winchester.
light chestnut with creamy white head.Resinous hops with plenty of grapefruit and mango character with little in the way of bitterness. Reminds me somewhat of ghost ship. Dry finish. Lovely.

[Cask at the William Robert Looseley (JDW), High Wycombe] Amber with a small white head. Intensely hoppy from the off, although the initial taste of pine disinfectant is not the greatest start. Fortunately the detergent soon fades to reveal lot of pithy grapefruit. Some sweet caramel malt does eventually manage to fight its way through, but really this is all about the hops. So... there’s a LOT of flavour for the low ABV, but it’s rather unbalanced. Personally (controversial, I know!) I think Adnams may have done this better on theor own.

Clear amber with a thin, disappating head. A balance, slightly fruity flavour but not strong enough and because of that it seems a bit unremarkable. Pleasant enough but nothing special.
