Crosse Keys Spoons. Almost clear amber beer, good pale cream coloured head. Palate is delightfully fresh and smooth. Semi dry with good fine carbonation. Light fresh creamy malt. Nice balancing hops - semi sweet fresh orange and mild floral notes. Turns much more bitter and provides a long bitter linger. Just a really nicely balanced, fresh and drinkable beer. Nice one!

Cask at the Green Man, JDW - London. Pours clear, amber-gold with a moderate, frothy white head. Dried fruits, berries in the nose, leaves, lightly toasted bread. Light to medium sweet flavor, some fairly sturdy dry bitter leaves, toasty bread, dried fruits, light pine. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Good condition. Some lightly toasted, bready malta to finish, more leady bitterness, suggestions of pine, peach, some citrus fruits. Very tasty beer overall.

Cask conditioned at a Wetherspoons. Gold to amber with no head. Very thin and watery on the palate, some sweet syrupy fruit, slightly floral, elderflower cordial, but really too wishy washy. Not good.

Cask conditioned handpump Hedley Verity Leeds 15/04/13. A reddy brown coloured beer with a white head and lace. Sweetish toasty malts and hops. nice character and good flavours with the toastiness being enjoyable. Nowhere near hoppy enough to be an Amber Ale on my tasting; more like an Irish Ale in many ways.

Cask at Penderel’s Oak (JDW) 10/04/13. Clear dark amber/copper with a well formed bubbly beige head. Nose is caramel malt lead followed up with biscuit notes and light floral hoppage. Taste comprises summer fruits, biscuit, light bread dough, caramel, orange, citrus. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate lending towards a dry finish with some hop bitterness. This pint was in good nick, not one to rave about but eminently quaffable.

Cask, The Highcross, Leicester. Dark amber brown with a cream foam. Aromas are raisins and dark winter fruit with medicinal notes. Earthy and plummy with brown sugar and light roast malts. Chocolate with traces of liquorice. Flavours are sweet and fruity with dark berries and some plummy red wine notes. Spicy on the finish with bitter lemon. Nice.

UPDATED: MAY 7, 2013 The Felix, Nuneaton, 24/04/13. Eponymous with a tight drum of head draping the glass. Soft chocolate, chestnut, possibly coriandered aroma. A decent red jelly, coriander, Hovis biscuit mixture of flavours more in the Belgian camp than US. Reminds me of those slightly flowery, biscuity Belgian impersonations of an English ale. Good fresh malty finish; nut husk and digestive afters. Good.
