4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cask at The Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 30 September. Poured a clear amber with a thin white head and good lacing. Floral hop aroma with mango and caramel sweetness. Melon and peach flavours with some hay. Finishes with citrus hops, spruce and toffee. Fruity number and deceptively quaffable (as I discovered).

Cask at Figure of Eight, Birmingham. Really good. Drank 3 pints of this and was akin to bladdered. Quaffable, hoppy, super smooth. Did taste the abv - not bonkers. I was right. So was Lee. So was Seamus.

Hazy mid amber, mangoes and oranges on nose, full bodied, pithy bitterness, hop forward but well balanced by the malt, does not drink its strength at all. Great collab.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Tasted this in the Last Post, Paisley (JDW) in October 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear orange amber in colour with a thin off white creamy head. Strong aroma of wet spruce plantations and dusty hop flowers. Thick creamy mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malt base leads to a rich maltloaf base, laden with thick maple syrup and tropical fruit salad notes. The aftertaste has a strong floral fragrance with hop flowers giving little astringency in the mouth. Finish is very malty with a fiery alcoholic warming medina burr and sweet syrupy Del Monte tropical fruit salad. This is a cracking New World IPA and went down a treat with a Rogan Josh curry! Highly recommended.

Cask flying horse Gatwick. Pours clear amber. White head which creates nice rings. Sweet bubblegum, caramel, citrus hops slight alcohol on Nose. Low carbonation. Toffee caramel gives way to astringent bitterness. Bitterness lasts on the palate. A little unbalanced with bitterness but a step above a lot of Cask ales.

Cask in the Square Bottle, Chester. Deep amber ale with tight white head. Strong hop profile, but syrupy with evident strength. Flavours of cut grass, tropical fruits and a pear drop undertone. Quite bitter. Nice, but a bit intense. A sipper.

Handpull, The Baron (JDW), 23/09/13. Brilliant red-bronze with a low slung white collar. Nose good peachy hop cone; resins, musk, Triple Sec. Juicy and smooth with heady orange, soap, grenadine, harsh bitter flowers, the almond of booze. Bitter end; some husk. Low to still condition.

Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading. Light amber-orange with a large creamy-beige head. Smooth caramel malt competes with pine, grapefruit, lime, flowers and kiwi. Good rich mouthfeel with some Horlicks notes - as usual Adnams get the malt bang on. Decent IPA.
