The Last Plantagenet, Leicester, 12/04/14. I’m just another sad guest on this dark earth. Honey gold smothering the glass with lace. Somewhat metallic tinned Rubicon aroma. Excellent fresh-wrung US citrus taste with soapy passion, dragon and grape fruit; white grape hints, balancing cashew malt sweetness. I believe in the mercy of the world again.

Unfortunately couldn’t get past the cat’s piss smell of this drink. Fruity taste was nice and deceptively strong.

Cask at the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 9 March 2014. Poured a clear, dark gold colour with a rocky, white head. Sweet aroma of raisins, melon and brown sugar. Initial flavours of mango, caramel and grass. Bitter pine and resin in the finish, balanced with some chewy malts.

1/3 pint at Gateshead ’spoons. Golden with a white head. Grapefruit and cat pee aroma. Citrus peel flavour Sharp, refreshing...and a little over-familiar? I feel like I’ve had a lot of similar beers in this style, and for my palate, this needed some tropical or blue fruit sweetness to rise above the ordinary.

Cask @ Shrewsbury Hotel. Big hoppy citrus from the off like sticking your nose in a fresh bag of tropical hops. Pale malts, teasing bitterness, smooth finish. Nice.

Clear golden beer with a foamy head. Aroma is sharp grapefruit and the flavour is grapefruit with hops and an almost biscuit-y finish. Very nice.

Cask at the Hope Tap, Reading. Pale amber with a large cream head and a light fizz. Lots of pine and bitterness up front, then some spicy notes- ginger, perhaps? Sweet flavours start to come through- mango maybe, and those rhubarb & custard sweets- then the bitterness returns with grapefruit in the aftertaste. A decent beer, but not quite up to the best of the Adnams collabs.

Nocturne (792) - Cheshire, ENGLAND - MAR 20, 2014
Cask at JDW, Altrincham. Hazy gold with a compact but long lasting white head. Hints of straw, white grape and honey. Slight bitterness to the taste but some sweetness also. Light and airy body. Promising flavours but seems a bit muted on the whole. Whilst not particularly bold it is very drinkable.

Cask at The William Jolle (W’Spoons), Northwood Hills. An amber/golden coloured pour with a medium white creamy head on top. Hoppy, tropical fruit, citrus fruit aroma. Tastes similar, hoppy, tropical fruit, citrus fruit, some grapefruit and a slight bitterness. Very nice indeed.
