kermis (7224) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - SEP 1, 2015
Bottle shared, as Marks and Spencer Southwold Summer IPA. Pours clear amber with a small off white head. Aroma of toffee, caramel, yeast, dark fruit, a light herbal note and a touch of orange. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a slightly resinous hop juice coating palate in contrast to the not so hoppy nose. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

50cl bottle courtesy of and shared with Kermis. Very thin ring head. Clear light amber pour. Light bitterness. Some caramel and malt. Needs more hops.

Swaroga (1813) - Brussels, BELGIUM - AUG 19, 2015
Amber color with small but consistent and lasting white head. The beer has a sweetish aroma of malts with mango, orange, white grapes, zest and a bit of raisin. The malt profile is on a dark bread skin and spice cake. Flavor is strong malts, medium sweet and the finish is bitter. Bitterness is zest and metal and isn’t elegant because it lasts long on the metal side. But somehow it gets erased each sip thanks to a powerful malt flavor.

50 cl bottle, as Marks and Spencer. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is grapefruity and citrusy. Dry, solid hoppy and estery. Dry and bitter finish.

Bottle from M&S Beggars Bush; clear burnished amber pour with a thin white head, aroma has caramel and some dark fruits, taste has some yeast esters, a hint of apple, caramel, some peach, ok.

allmyvinyl (6645) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - JUN 20, 2015
500ml bottle as M&S Southwold Summer IPA. Pours clear amber, short-lived white head. Aromas of limes, chalk, fresh orange, bubblegum. Taste is more citrus, with white sugar sweet notes rather than caramel. Develops into a lime marmalade kinda thing, with more hubba bubba. Bitter finish. Yeah, pretty good.

As M&S Southwold Summer IPA. Adnams are a first-rate brewer, but alas they’ ve gone for a heavier American-style IPA (which isn’t a true IPA at all). Can’t taste the supposed citrus edge to this...disappointed.

As Marks and Sparks Southwold Summer IPA. Clear amber beer, tidy cream colour head. Palate is light and mildly crisp. Semi dry. Light malts carry a fair bit of caramel. Mild esters. Hops are a mildly bitter floralness. Smooth semi dry finish. Bitter linger. Too caramel dominated to be a decent IPA, more of a big ESB.

uckelman (404) - Durham, ENGLAND - JUN 22, 2014
Labeled as Marks & Spencer Southwold Summer IPA. Pours clear, reddish amber. Small white head which quickly dissipates to lace. Big citrus/soapy hops aroma with a hint of barnyard. Light body, as expected from an English ale. Nice bitterness, well balanced.

M&S Bottle. Beautiful amber color with creamy head of varying sized bubbles that dissipates moderately quickly. Hoppy, citrusy aroma. Very bitter, strong taste of straw, hay, and grass, but without being astringent. For someone who doesn’t like IPAs, this one is pretty good: soft mouthfeel makes it pleasant to drink.
