Cask at the King’s Tun (JDW). Lovely deep gold with lots of hopsack on the nose, rich body for a pale ale with citrus and pine notes. Lingering hoppy bitterness.

Cask. Beautiful golden color with a small, creamy white heap. US west coast hops on the nose, a bit piney, grassy. The taste is subtly sweet, some orange peel. Slightly hop-forward but not over bearing. Light body, soft mouthfeel, subtle carbonation. Overall, a very pleasant pint.

[Cask at Wetherspoons, Milton Keynes] Pale amber, slight white head. Traopical fruit, grapefruit, loads of pine - rather like the Roosters Last Stand I’d had just before, but with the piney hops stepped up, and more and slightly darker malts to provide rather more balance and a richer mouthfeel than the Roosters had. Best at this ’Spoons fest for me. Another great beer from Adnams - surely the best regional brewer in the land?

Loved this - not really a cask beer as more carbonation would have lifted but really strong hop flavour, all american stuff. Top banana.

Tuesday bell, lisburn.
Unassuming amber session beer with thin foam cap. Ruinous, slightly soapy fresh hop aroma. Fresh resin with citrus and a bitter finish balanced by sweet malt. Tried a third then had to get a pint.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tasted this in The Esquire House, Glasgow (JDW) in October 2011. Cask, handpump dispense. Clear amber in colour with a thin white head. Pleasant floral dry hops in the short aroma. Thin but zesty mouthfeel and good lacing. Pale malts deliver a citrusy fruit medlay of kiwi and gooseberry notes. Dry citric hops give a juicy aftertaste which is not too astringent with hints of grapefruit. Finish is a touch sweeter with thick cut marmalade evident. An excellent IPA for a session. Well recommended.
