Murky brown. Tingly carbonation above a smooth body. Toasty, multi-grain malts; only mildly sweet. Rich fruit notes -- apple, pear, raisins, currant/raisin, and orange rind. Drying hops deposit notes of grass and earth in the mouth. Bitter-ish aftertaste. Lively flavors and aromas. Not too shabby.

Bottle: Dark amber coloured, firm off-white head, lasting; strong fruity nose (dried fruit, cherries, port), some herbal hops from behind, also some bubble-gum aroma; full-bodied sweetish-fruity start; fruity-bitter vinous taste with a tinge of roasted malts; dry, bitter-fruity, long lasting hoppy finish. A mighty brew, very well quaffable !

Out of a bottle. Aroma of fruit and malts, slight chocolate. Poured a dark brown with nice off white head. Flavor was sweet, roasty. Palate was nice even though watery. Overall I liked it very much.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Smells very fruity, with caramel and spicy hops - very English, a little oxidized sherry/cardboard. Hazy ruby brown color, decent off-white head. Lots of caramel and ripe fruit in the flavor, although it seems a little watery, on the sweet side, a bit of roast malt and alcohol in the finish. Medium-full body, moderate carbonation. Good strong bitter.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle from Adnams Brewery shop. Dark brown/red beer. Excellent aromas of rich dark fruits and some chocolate and coffee with roasted raisins. Full in mouth and slightly sweeter than the cask version (maybe due to the higher alcohol) but still an excellent strong bitter

Found in sainsburies and had no idea that this was going to be as good as it is. Aroma straing away i realise is dubble like, fruits and sweet. Taste very similar, though the hops are quite present at the end. Alround a pleasent suprise to GarethYoung and mine’s tasting session, of sainsburies new range of beers.
