Nice English beer, and looks impeccable in an English dimple mug. Perfect head and lace that hangs around for the whole ride. Nice brew.

4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Adnams Broadside (bottled version, introduced in 1972) has a very thick, creamy, beige head, a clear, bubbly, copper appearance, and significant lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, syrupy, brown bread crust, nut, and mild hop oil. Taste is of banana, sweet, brown bread, sugar, and a mild, balancing, straightforward bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat slick, and Adnams Broadside (bottled) finishes semi-wet, easy drinking, and not the least bit alcohilic. RJT

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
The flavor starts out with a slightly hoppy note and a very darkly roasted grain bitterness, followed by moderate maltiness, and finishing with a hoppy bitterness. It’s a beer I really want to like, but just don’t love.

Bottled. Clear dark red-brown with a small cream-coloured head. Malt and noticeable alcohol on the nose and sweet malt and molasses flavours. Warming alcohol, a dry finish, and balancing bitterness. Very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A dark reddish-brown coloured beer with a thick and frothy off white head. A strong nutty malt aroma, caramel and a yeasty bready element. Full mouthfeel. A mouth-filling malt flavour. Nutty and bready, with a sweet taste of caramel and a hint of bubblegum. An alcoholic sourness comes through in the finish.
