bb (2905), Martinez, California, USA Oct 16, 2009 Cask. Rich amber-toffee colored beer with a cream colored head. Light caramel aroma. Caramel and light citrus flavor with some pine. Medium bodied. Caramel and decent hops linger. Ober (1161), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands Aug 7, 2009 Cask at a pub in London. A clear light brown colored beer, with a small off white head. The aroma of bitterness with caramel, some hops and fruits. The taste is sweet bitter, dry. There is caramel with a little flower. The aftertaste is dry bitter. nate2g (1034), Brisbane, Australia May 17, 2009 Cask @ Bridge House, London. September 08. Pours dark amber with a small white head. Malty aroma and light floral notes. Similar flavour with a hoppy bitterness in the finish. kassner (429), Wexford, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 24, 2009 On tap at least in Cask week at Black Friar in London. Dark amber, some hops, nutty, and malt prevalent, full flavor for a british ale, and the bitter helps at the end. weaselkenievil (738), Cheshire, England Apr 12, 2009 Cask at Porters in Macclesfield. I hate this pub. Always rammed with nobheads, dark, low ceilings, usually the kind I like but it just does my swede in. Cleared to a goldy brown with a nice white head. Not much aroma but my nose is taken over by the smell of this shit hole. The pub I mean, I wasn’t stood next to an arse. Light fruit kick, malts and a mellow bitter finish. Not bad but not the kind of beer I’d choose again too quick. PJClarke (609), London, Greater London, England Apr 7, 2009 Deep and ruddy with the perfect cappuccino head.
Overly sweet and malty characters on the nose with thick heavy bread notes.
Rich with a little stale lemony tang. Nasal sweetness is counteracted by some nice roasted flavours that lend a savoury finish.
Nice and thick.
Pretty tasty but could do with losing some of the worty sweetness.
