A dark brown beer with a ruby hue. The aroma and taste are full, malty and fruity. Good dark fruits and a great long finish. I have always felt this beer to taste much stronger than 4.7%; it has that big mouthfeel of a stronger beer. Great flavours and well brewed.Score 3.5 Subsequent rating also scored 3.5. cgarvieuk (4269), Edinburgh, Scotland

Dark mahogany wit a small white head. Fruit, berries, metal in the aroma. Very fruity, almost cognacy like a barley wine. Fin (3495), Merton, Oxfordshire, England

Poured a darker brown that I expected, some sulphur on the nose along with some dried fruits, taste was also fruitier than I anticipated and pleasantly malty with some hops but a bit safe and not a patch on its bottled stablemate. Beautiful amber, refreshing easy-drinking beer. Full malt, and hoppy finish, too. Great with food. Rune (2863), Tromsø, Norway

Slightly malty to the nose. Smooth with light bitterness and some caramel in a rather weak taste. Very standard beer (in perfect temperature at Pakenham Arms, London 14.09.2006). hepburn82 (141), Scotland

A little malt and hop in the aroma but nothing special. A tasty beer with orangey / fruity flavor. Enough body but not enough bitterness for me. A bit wishy washy and not enough condition in this pint. Stine (1381), St. Paul, Minnesota, USA

Aside from noticeably fruity hoppiness in this bitter, there’s nothing to separate it from the average. There is a slight unpleasantness to this by the end, not sure what it is...
