Mahogany body with a filthy beige head. Hums like an unwashed spaniel. A sniff of sulphur. Smoothly fruity but hoppily bitter at the end. Clear, thick and creamy but not convincing. Doesn’t hold a candle to the bottled version.

Ye Olde Mitre, London. Lots of malts and hops. Some sulphur. Loads of taste, sweet fruity malt, bitter, little too sweet, dry after.

Cask: Sweet-malty-almost toasted- and fruity aroma, with a distinctive hop-bitterness; full bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; long, bitter-malty-fruity finish. A rich, well rounded beer.............

Cask at Pakenham Arms, London. Dark copper color with small creamy head. Malty and fruity aroma with herbal hops. Smooth and sweetish flavor with moderate bitterness. Wonderfully rich mixture of tropical fruits, esters and hops. Finishes bittersweet and and malty with some distant caramel and toasted notes. Well balaced, one of the better cask bitters.

Cask at The Strutton Arms (Westminster - London).
Limpid and firm red color. Nonexistent foam. Light aroma of braced malt, smoked wood and alcohol. Decidedly better taste; solid and pleasant body with a determined bitter extinguished on the end. Medium general persistence.

Cask : The Seven stars, Holborn. Mahogany brown, rich with lots of body but easy drinking, nice maltyness(and im not keen on malty beer) balanced buy a little bitter finnish.
