COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Adnams Broadside commemorates the fierce battle of Sole Bay fought against the Dutch Republic in 1672 off the Southwold coast, just across the green from our brewery. The fullness of the beer makes it a good accompaniment for stews and steak or kidney and ale pies. All sausage dishes complement Broadside well. A mature cheese ploughmans or cheeseboard of hard English cheeses are a perfect match for bottled Broadside. (Contains barley).

A regular that doesn’t come my way often enough. A traditional regular that comes in quite heavy. OK.

On tap at the Wharf. More or less clear in the glass, dark chestnut colored, with some bubbles on top. Nutty, dried fruits aroma with some toffee and oatmeal biscuits. There’s some sweetness on the palate, but it’s mostly on the dry side, with a nice carbonation level. Medium body fullness. Toffee, bread, dried fruits and some nuts in the flavor, with a faint piney touch. Long finish with a good bitterness. Too malty on the nose this one, but sure decent anyway. 160622

Draught at The Linen Weaver. Deep amber with a frothy, white head. Sweet fruity malty aroma and flavour. Wish there was more of a hop profile.

Taste from a friend (cask) @ Crown Rivers, Heathrow. Pours clear deep amber with a medium creamy head. Exceptionally lasting for a real ale. Aroma is malts with notes of fruits and caramel. Flavor is sweet fruity malts with some hops. Nice warming alcohol. Good.

Cask in a pub somewhere in Suffolk. A deep chestnut ale with a foamy biege head. The taste is malty with toffee and a hint of liquorice with a touch of citrus too. Pleasantly bitter finish. Quite decent for what it is.
