Bottle. Returning import: Lists ABV @ 6%. Near brown color with a moderate fluffy/wispy light tan head. Very light aromas of caramel, brown sugar, and bing cherries. Lots of malt in here to chew on. Mellow and relaxing kind of brew. Or maybe the fact its the first brew after drywalling most of the day and missing the football games. Light almonds, mixed with toffee, cherries, dark candi and a hint of oak in the flavor. Enough bitterness in the fnish to keep the sweetness in check. Perhaps a bit too acidic in the finish, but I may be picking at nits here. Glad it's back, if they are all like this. On to the Suffolk Strong.

Deep red with a firm head that holds. Quite a tangy smell. Sweet toffee notes with a nice hoppy aftertaste and caramel also. Not bad at all. I must also add that I prefer the bottle to the beer on tap.

Bottled: Burgundy coloured. Clear. Thin offwhite not long lasting head. Fruity and malty aroma. Light roasted and malty flavour. A bit watery. Has a bitter alcaholic aftertaste. Not very interesting beer.

Sully (1378) - Potts Point, New South Wales, AUSTRALIA - NOV 22, 2003
Good toffee nose when poured, even if a bit understated. The body and head were also as expected by this beer, something about the description that gives such an expectation. Good flavour and malty hop balance, this is a very fine beer that is just not exceptional.

hopscotch (7522) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - NOV 21, 2003
Crystal clear, mahogany ale with a large, frothy, beige head. Good lacing. Good retention The nose is of dates, toffee, light honey and dark, fruity esters. Very well-balanced flavor. Brown sugar and caramel. Very well-bittered. Full-bodied with a fizzy mouthfeel. Astringent, dry finish. Leaves the mouth feeling oily. Very nice!

dreamboat (186) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - NOV 20, 2003
Tight and slightly brown head sitting over a delightful reddish brown coloured beer. A faint hop nose, but nothing of the malt. First taste is of a slightly sweet brew, but within seconds, the bitterness comes to the fore, where it remains for the remainder of the glass. No warming alcohol which could be reasonably expected in a 6.3% ABV beer. Overall a nice enough drop, but skewed towards the bitterness which is not at all the way of typical English Ales.

Medium rocky tan head with some decent lacing. Beautiful, clear brown/red hued brew. Fruity, malty nose. Medium body. Good clean malt flavors, some hints of chocolate malt and a nice fruityness. Dry finish with a bitter bite.

surprised me with a very tangy, burnt fruit bitterness. some raw sugar in the aroma with a vague farminess. doughy and chewy with a full, almost american hop surge in the finish. quality stuff

Has a fruity malt aroma and is almost the same colour as the label, with abig but short-lived head. Flavour has sweet caramel and malt changing to a roasted bitterness at the end. Pretty good.
