bitbucket (2026), Kirkland, Washington, USA Mar 1, 2007 Bottle from Malt of the Earth beer club. Pours a clear coppery amber with an off-white head. Spicy aroma with some sweet malt behind it. Medium body with fine carbonation. The alcohol comes to the fore, in a fusil, malt-liquor-like attack. The taste is sweet and has some fruit, citrus and nutty notes. Spicy and somewhat dry finish. The bitterness shows up in the aftertaste. rmussman (905), California, USA Mar 1, 2007 A very nice beer. Had with fish and chips in London on vacation and enjoyed. A very nice appearance and head was just the introduction to a nice full bodied beer. A must when you visit London. kenb (1100), Oregon, USA Feb 28, 2007 12 oz bottle via Malt of the Earth Beer club. This one pours a dark semi hazy orange/brown with a large beige head. Nose is a spicey hoppiness with some lemon notes. Tastes like too much roasted barley for this beer and orange peel hoppiness and an astringant metallic finish, with a dry carboardy chalky aftertaste. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Cliff (355), Avon Lake, Ohio, USA Feb 26, 2007 Bottle, poured a nice reddish amber with a thin head. Malty, bready aromas. Similar flavors, toffee sweetness and a slightly bitter finish. A nice ale, nothing spectacular. thebeertourist (2751), Oslo, Norway Feb 18, 2007 Bottle. Deep red copper with a huge offwhite head. Grassy hoppy nose with a hint of wet cardboard. Rather sweet, caramel, some bitterness towards the finish. Quite full-bodied. Not quite there. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Feb 11, 2007 12oz bottle-pours a light tan head and copper color. Aroma is medium malt. Taste is medium malt, hops bitterness. OK carbonation. HarryFlashman (469), Chatham, Kent, England Feb 11, 2007
A very overrated but not displeasant ale. Your standard English ale mud brown more malty sweetness than hoppy. Fairly good. berkshirejohn (1767), Bracknell, Berkshire, England Feb 3, 2007 Chestnut with a think tan head; aroma of malt and caramel; smooth and full in the mouth, malty sweet with a hint of toffee apple; slighty soar and dry finish. Warming.
