A fine, heartwarming English Beer, rich in flavours of malt and hops.

Bottle sampled with Beerded one. Pours murky orange\brown with a decent sized tan head. Aroma of sweetness, caramel malts, alcohol, barley, citrus, and hops. Flavor is semi-sweet, caramel, malty, bitter hoppy bite, citrus, and slight fruit. Good body, decent brew.

Enjoyable. Mahogony body, great light brown head. Toffee and dark malts, with restrained but fully adequate British hopping. Sweetness has notes of plums and chocoolae, but nicely offset by the hops..

12 oz bottle labeled 6% abv. Beautiful clear mahogany pour with a firm, long lasting, tan head. Nice malty, sweet aroma. The flavor is excellent, complex and interesting. Starts out malty sweet but not overly so, becoming tangy and tingly on the tongue, and then a late bitterness kicks in after the swallow, which lasts a while. An interesting variety of flavors, well matched and balanced. Loads of English character in this one, and a real pleasure to drink. Picked up a 4-pack for $9.99 at The Fresh Market, Jacksonville, FL. Maybe a little pricey there, but not outrageously so.

The aroma has raisins, yeast, brown sugar and carrots. The appearance is red-brown with a large head. The flavor is very sweet with plenty of bitterness and alcohol. There are also the elements from the aroma. The palate is just slightly chewy. Despite some good qualities it has a medicinal aftertaste. This is ok.

Nose is caramel, port, apple, bananna, sweet and wonderful. Flavor is not as sweet as expected - apple, toffee, rich amazing malt. Hops are there but hang perfectly in the back. Some raisin. Toffee/plum finish.

Nice dark color and good head with good lacing. This one went down really smooth, dispite the stronger alcohol content. Though it comes in a four pack it was still a good buy.

Bottle printed Best Before Date – 23 Nov,’04. I’m consuming it today (July 3rd, ’06). Didn’t know I was buying a vintage brew. Pours brown to amber in color with tan head. Malty aroma. Rich and varied malt flavor with caramel, molasses and toffee sweetness combined with a more grainy malt. The hop influence is very light, could be the age. There is also a bit of fruitiness from the yeast.
