Honey-hazed, mahogany/brown with a creamy, khaki head that ends as ilsands and thick lace. Aroma profile similar to the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/adnams-suffolk-s but not quite as sharp, enhanced by a caramel malt presence. Buttery mouth with mid-bodied fullness. A sweet edge of caramel complements the bitterness of English hopping. Savory to finish. Very good.

From a shaped 1pt. 9oz. brown bottle with a short blurb about the ale and a best before date on the back label. Poured a cloudy bronze hued caramel brown with a foamy. bubbly topped pale tannish head that reduced to a sticky thin bubbly lacing, moderate carbonation. Had a aroma of apples, raisins and currants with a buttery malt background. A slick, textured medium bodied mouth feel, above average drinkability. A big malty taste, toasted barley, buttery carmel, with a ripe dark fruitiness and a mild hop bitterness in the middle, a slight alcohol burn in the palate and a sweet fruity finish.

A dark amber clear color with a lasting off-white head. A fruity nose and taste, the beer is sweet but not to sweet. A good balance of malt and hops that leaves a distinct after taste. A great English strong ale certainly.

Bottle. As bottled beer go this is definately one of the elite brigade. This beer pours a very dark red is very clear and has a reasonable off white head. Fruity and malty and powerful beer that I hadn’t realised was so significantly stronger than it’s cask counterpart. One of those select band of strong English beers that could be drunk alongside similar strenght Belgian classics and that would more than hold its own, very, very moreish.

My top rate so far... Amber coloured body with a off-white head. The aroma has apples and much fruty nose. The taste has a milky feel. The malt is sweet and has some banana in it. Perfect biterness in the end.

bottle. Off-white head. Clear dark. Red brown body. Barley aroma plus something that I cannot quite distinguish, lemon ? Flavor: Well this is a tough one as I think it is rather complex which I like but let me put it like this spicy roast malt(s).

Burgundy pour with a healthy off white head. Caramel aroma. Taste is fruity, malty throughout. Decent palate that coats the tongue. I will buy this again.

a completely decent brew, solid and malty, it’s very straightforward. aroma of whisky and alcohol, the flavor is somewhat sweet and fruity. a bit of currant and bread, the brew is rich while drinkable.
