Gary (352), Buckinghamshire, England Feb 10, 2009 Updated: Feb 11, 2009Really good ,robust dark ale.Hearty & not for wusses. br />A beer with lots of malt power.Yes ,malt is chief in this beer.Roast chocolate is there . It is tad syrupy on the palate, not too sticky however . This would go great with my ’famous’ Tunna stew. mcc5468 (102), USA Jan 18, 2009 Head dissapates quickly. Dark amber color. Aroma is malty with maybe some fruit. Taste is dry with definite malt taste. All in all a good beer with slight sweet flavor. Solid. mike1977ok (633), Netherlands Jan 8, 2009 Rich aroma of dry fruits and a little oak. Flavour is quite dry and bitter but is lifted slightly by the complex fruity taste. greenmanalishi (294), Leicestershire, England Dec 31, 2008 500ml bottle. Pours clear brown-red with no head.
Strong caramel-malt profile, some spice (clove? cinnamon), dark berries and fruit flavours (damson, sultana). slight dry finish balances things and leaves a strong palatable texture. rosenbergh (843), Helsinki, Finland Dec 30, 2008 Updated: Jan 10, 2009500 ml bottle. From the UK.
Fruity and malty aroma.
Flavour is fruits and some warming alcohol. But the best part is the complexity of this brew. Very nice. Trev (850), Lakeville, Minnesota, USA Dec 23, 2008 pours a dark amber/brown with a thin but persistent tan head with nice lacing..
Aroma is fruity malt. Flavour is cakey darker malts, some plum and dried fruit tones. Subtle bitterness towards the end.
Pretty Good. joe19612 (673), camberley, Surrey, England Dec 12, 2008 Bottle. Pours a deep redish color, big creamy head. Fruity malty aroma with a peace of hops. Nice bitter taste, and a sweet finish.
Slacks (480), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Dec 5, 2008 500ml Bottle: Pours caramel orange and cloudy with a top notch beige head that laces the glass very nicely. Strong sweet malts, burnt sugar, and Christmas cake fruits in the aroma, very pleasing. The taste initially hits with some spicy, sweet malts - seems like cinnamon, plums, butter, and caramel sugar. A quick hit of hops bitters things down until the caramel comes through strong in the finish. I actually quite enjoyed this one, very good.
