A fine, heartwarming English Beer, rich in flavours of malt and hops.

Bottled. A dark brown coloured beer with a decent sized and lasting white head. The aroma is malty with toffee and caramel. The taste is also very malty with berry fruit notes and noticeable alcohol. Not the greatest depth but still a decent beer.

Maybe I just had a bad bottle, but mine tasted much like an old shoe. Perhaps I should give it another try and re-rate.

Outstanding. This is a wonderful example of the style. Very complex but balanced flavor invites you to keep sipping. This would make an excellent session ale.

Brown ale with a huge head. Very malty smell that led to a somewhat sweet taste. Hops are evident, though this is a really mellow beer. A great beer. Could be a good session beer.

Bottle. Dark brownish hue with medium off-white head that diminished slowly. Good aroma of malt and sweet fruit. Medium body. Medium flavor with small bitter finish.

[bottle from asda] pours a deep red colour with an off-white head. The nose holds berry fruits-cherrys, lots of toffee malts. good body with a good kick of bittering hops in the finish.

Pours a clear, dark copper with a medium beige head that doesn’t last. Toffee malts and a hint of fruit aroma, with sweet toffee dominating the palate and a nicely hopped bitter finish. I finally picked out a faint berry flavour hidden in there, but only after I was more than half finished (proper temperature maybe?). Overall really nice.
