Roasty and wineous, toffeeish-malty aroma. Fruity, somewhat roasty, lightly wineous, pleasantly hoppy flavor with licorice and rosemary hints. Medium-bodied, sweetish, very smooth and sophisticated palate with low carbonation. A very nice and tasty, roasty and malty, easily drinkable ale. oli (108), Denmark

Dark ruby color, good tanned head. Aroma has oak, hops, licorice and toffee - it’s even slightly earthy. Medium to full-bodied, bitter woody flavor. Some licorice hints. A bit similar to some Fullers (1845 etc). Eructoblaster (1510), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada

Well balanced malty/hoppy aroma with oaky and toffee hints. Its hoppy taste is sharp and robust. It carries some roastiness and woodiness and hides the alcohol pretty well. Ends with a long and strong bitter finish. Excellent example of English Strong Ale. turbothy (728), Bonn, Germany

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2006 The smell was quite sweet. Beer had a delicious hop flavor and a great amount. Sweet enough to take a bit of the edge off the hops. Texture is still mildly watery, but not enough to be unpleasant. frankenkitty (1903), Oak Lawn, Illinois, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Mar 23, 2006 Honey-hazed, mahogany/brown with a creamy, khaki head that ends as ilsands and thick lace. Aroma profile similar to the <a href=http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/adnams-suffolk-s but not quite as sharp, enhanced by a caramel malt presence. Buttery mouth with mid-bodied fullness. A sweet edge of caramel complements the bitterness of English hopping. Savory to finish. Very good.
