Pours deep brown into a shaker. Offwhite micro head pancakes as it slowly recedes. Sweet malt and slight resin aromas. Malty upfront with a bitter British hop finish.

(Bottle, Monks Cafe, Stockholm, 15 Sep 2008) Dark reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with dark fruit, wild berries, blood oranges and caramel. Malty, fruity taste with dark fruit, caramel, blood oranges and generous doses of earthy, orangey hops in a fairly bitter finish. Everything backed up by a solid, chewy malt foundation. Above medium body. Superb and warming beer.

Delicious - sweet fruitcake aroma, strong sweet malt, citrus hops, lingering bitterness in finish, surprisingly light body for abv - extremely drinkable, will buy again.

I tried this beer on August 1, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a very dark brownish red, with a thin tan head. The aroma was caramel malt, and wood. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy, and medium carbonated. The flavour was caramel malt, some spice, and a little bit of hops.

A red-brown colour with a white foam. A lot of foam from the bottle, be prepared after you have opened it! Some bread, medium sweetness. A litlle dry. Quite long finnish

500 mL bottle. (bb 11 June 09). Copper brown with a beautiful beige head. Aroma is candied fruit, prunes, wild berries, and toffee. Flavour is sweetish malt, with a nice bitter finish. Not nearly as complex as the aroma. Body fills out as the beer warms. Fairly heavily carbonated. Not bad.

11/08/2007: Adnams Broadside Original looks murky and dark brown in the glass with a golden hue around the edges. It has a frothy beige head. The aroma presents mats and fruity cream. The flavor contains darkly roasted caramel and cooked apple. The flavors are strong, but are melded together well. This beer is balalnced and solid with a soft, mellow mouthfeel.

1 pint .9 fl. oz. bottle (Alc 6% Vol / Best Before 20 Nov 07 / 6233 1868) from Jungle Jim’s International Market in Fairfield, Ohio. Rating #438 for this beer.

Pours a cloudy amber colour with a creamy biege head that retains very well and leaves good lacing. A pleasing aroma of sweet malts, noble hops and an impression of beat sugars and fig. The flavour is rich in sweet malts, dark cherries, fennel and bitter hops with a coffee-like aftertaste. The body is full and the texture is creamy. The bitterness in the aftertaste is a bit astringent, but not so much so that it ruins the beer. I leaves a nice warming down in the cocckles.
