Had this on tap at The Plough in London on 12/31/07 in an Adnams pint glass. Amber color and 1 finger off white head. Toasted malts, hops and bitters to the nose. Malt, grass, hay and bitters at first followed by a the same with a strange astringent taste. Slightly watered down body. Decent at best. Went ok with fish & chips but couldn’t stand alone.

Jan 6, 2010 colour is a very dark reddish brown, molasses and alcohol smell.
dried figs, molasses, tar, a bit of coffee, feels sticky and heavy. awesome, i should have gotten this a few weeks ago when i really wanted a true winter warmer

Jan 2, 2010 Bottle 500ml. Exceptional. Aroma has caramel, apple, nuts, and cask. Sweet flavour with bitter notes, long duration. Creamy palate, and full body. Dark brown colour, with a frothy head.

Dec 21, 2009 Pours a garnet colour. Aroma is banana, cloves and malts. Taste is full in the palate with malt, caramel with a small hop bitterness.

Dec 20, 2009 50 cl bottle, Mulmur, ON, Canada. Deep amber colour, persistent tightly foamed head. Powerful yet balanced aroma of spiced sugar. Full and rich in the mouth with faint cinnamon sweet hazelnut. Sweet finish that balances the alcohol.

Dec 19, 2009 Bottle from LCBO. Almost opaque dark brown red with a medium beige foamy head showing good retention and minimal lacing. Aroma is banana, cloves, rich malt and earthy notes. Flavor is caramel, banana, cloves, earthy notes, english hops. Moderately bitter and slightly sweet finish.

Dec 18, 2009 500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours deep brown, with hint of red. Huge creamy head with lots of lacing. Aroma is sweet malt, slightly roasted. Flavour is also sweet, finish of roasted malt. Quite good.

Dec 13, 2009 500 ml bottle from LCBO. Pours a cloudy reddish brown with small tan head. Nose of dark fruit, hint of alcohol and light roast. Taste starts slightly watery but gives way to lingering sweet, dark fruit and alcohol sensation. Ok, but didn’t love it.
