Beth101 (108), West Yorkshire, England Aug 31, 2008 Smell of malt with a hint of coffee. mid brown with a good size off white head. Had a strong malty taste. Slight carbonation and was thick and full bodied. cyrenaica (274), Milton, Ontario, Canada Aug 26, 2008 500ml bottle

I tried this beer on August 1, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe’s" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a very dark brownish red, with a thin tan head. The aroma was caramel malt, and wood. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy, and medium carbonated. The flavour was caramel malt, some spice, and a little bit of hops. gary07734 (141), Tyne & Wear, England Aug 25, 2008 Pours a dark reddish-brown, with a very large foamy head that stands up. Smell is malty, sweet and toasty. Taste is a bit dissapointing, burnt malt and some sort of soapiness in the background, not great in my opinion. Chrism86 (58), Melbourne, Australia Aug 15, 2008 Appears an auburn/brown with a small tan head that dissipates in no time. The trademark caramel/toffee of the style is present with some fruit and nut nuances. Palate delivers more of the same with nutty malt dominating early to give way to some piney notes and medium hop bitterness rounding out the back palate.
tupalev (2296), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 13, 2008 Bottle sample, TFOB ’08. Great malty aroma, lots of spice and some alcohol. Taste follows, more chewy malt, strong ESB like hops and a roasty finish. Dark orange/brown a good sized white head. A nice sipper that tastes stronger than it is - cannot wait to get my hands on more of these.
