COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Tasting notes and ingredients We’ve used lots of hops from North America – Columbus, Centennial, Cascade, Amarillo and Citra – because we just love the delicious, big, bold, citrus and pine flavours and aromas they bring to the beer. To balance out all this hoppy goodness we’ve added Rye, plus some Pale Ale and Cara Malt, to imbue sweetness, body and balance as well as some lovely subtle toffee flavours. Want to know more? The recipe for our Rye IPA was created by Adnams brewer (and certified hop freak) Belinda, who was excited to be able to let her passion for American craft beers shine through in this flavoursome brew. Jack Brand Rye IPA is available for a limited time in 30L kegs in selected outlets. Food Matches Pair our Rye IPA with spicy Mexican dishes or hot Caribbean flavours.

Bottle@the avion, aldridge. Orange brown beer with small head. Aroma of caramel and malts. Taste is caramel, malts, fruity and spice. Decent.

Bottle at Pilgrims Progress (JDW), Bedford. Ruddy brown and a bit hazy. A reasonable amount of off-white head. Aroma is pine/spruce hop with caramel malt. This would be a 9 or a 10 aroma except for an odd plastic undertone. Taste is a sharp bittersweet that allows the sourness of the rye to do its thing without taking over the flavour profile. Bitter/sour aftertaste. A keeper.

Bottle Spoons. Some spicy malt on the aroma. More spiciness throughout. Lacks body for me seems a bit thin. Compared to the Lagunitas ipa before this the Adnams doesn’t stand up. Almost papery thin. Hmmmm.

Bottle from the Moon Under Water (JDW), Watford on 7 October. Poured a clear ruby, with a dense white head. Good aroma of US hops, with redcurrant and hay in the mix. Malty forward flavour, with some rye and berries. Finish was, resin and peal.

330ml bottle from the Royal Hop Pole, Tewkesbury. Deep Amber brown colour with a creamy white head. Aroma has hops and the citrus and pine from them. Taste also has the crtrus and pine, but the rye adds another layer of flavour.

Bottle. Pours a deep clear copper-hued nut brown body with a small white head. Nose is red fruits, raisins, mild peppery notes, straw and hints of grass, melon and coca-cola. Taste is earthy leaves, peppery grass tones, potato peel, rye, grains, pine and hints of red fruits and coca-cola. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. Pretty flavorful, but the IPA factor seems rather low in favor of the obvious grainy notes. Not bad, but far from impressive either.

Bottle. Brownish amber beer with a light head. The aroma is roasted with toffee and bitterness. The flavour has some maltiness and richness, but is generally roasted and bitter with toffeeness. Overall a reasonable bitter beer. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
