Cask; Special. Brewed to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in 2012, we’ve taken the best bits from the recipe and design of our Royal Wedding beer from last year to create our latest vibrant commemorative Ale.

Cask stillage at Ye Olde Watling, London on 28 May 2012. Poured a clear amber, with a halo of rocky white head. Aroma of caramel, honeycomb and grain. Apples in the flavour, with citrus and biscuit. Finish was toffee, herbs and light resin.

June 2012 - For the queen’s diamond jubilee - had on draught. Very nice beer. More like a light pale ale. Light, bitter-sweet, great balance.

Cask conditioned handpump Farmers Boy St Albans 03/08/12. A hazy blonde beer with a whitish head and lacing. A bit acidic and lacking typical Adnams yeast notes. Zesty lemony notes. Has a bit of Belg wit note to it which I doubt is deliberate. Not on top form.

On tap @ the Toby Carvery, Edinburgh. Pours amber with a decent head. The nose has a combination of sweet malt and fruit - probably apples or grapes. The apples and sweet malt are confirmed on the taste. The palate was better than expected as I thought there would be a finish that was too astringently malty - but instead the medium body and creamy texture ended with a clean hop with reasonable bitterness. I enjoyed this.

Cask by handpump at Tennent’s Bar, Glasgow - clear golden / amber ale, creamy off-white head, sweet honey aroma, good temperature, honey flavour, dry finish

Great smell of honey but not in the taste! Looks fab and was nice with diner to freshen the palette!

Cask @ a JDW pub. Clear amber color with a small creamy head. The nose is faint cherries and caramel, some bread and unidentifiable fruits. The taste is pretty much the same - weak cherry flavor with more slightly woody malts flavors, some hints of nutmeg. The finish is dry. Overall, not my favorite effort from Adnams, though this probably wasn’t on cracking form.
