COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Cask; Regular. Originally a special but was made permanent.
Note: The original version of this beer used Pale Ale malt, Crystal malt, Munich & some Wheat malt and the hops were specified as Columbus, Chinook & Citra.

At 4.5% abv, this Pale Ale has a good assertive pithy bitterness and a malty backbone. It is brewed with a selection of malts – Pale Ale, Rye Crystal and Cara – we use Citra, and a blend of other American hop varieties to create some great citrus flavours.

On tap@The Blackwater Stream - Broadstone. A fantastic ale from Suffolk based Adnams. Straight after the pour a heavy fermented head builds, but is quickly dissipated/topped. On the nose; the malt & yeast presence is unmistakeable, earthy elements creep in alongside vanilla (right at the end). It is non-carbonated and it has a warm, off red hue. In typical style it has a complexity that "Creeps" up after a couple of good mouthfuls. Largely caramel undertones dominate, alongside hay, citrus notes (summer style-originally May-Oct brew), mature "dark" powerful (not overpowering) hoppiness. Malt and lemon & lime on the palate after swallow - good bitterness remains. Satisfying pint! In my opinion, this is one of the few ales that perfectly balances A.B.V potency and flavour. Normally I’m wishing it had more flavour or more alcohol, or both...but I reckon the balance here is spot on. This would make a fantastic session ale, but sadly I was on my way home from work after knocking off an hour early, so stopped for a cheeky pint en-route, shame. Like: Hopback Brewery - Summer Lightening, Sharp’s - Special/Doombar/Own.

Gravity at the Aldburgh Country Show. Amber with some off white froth. The taste is surprisingly hoppy with some citrus and pine notes. Some caramel undertones too. Much better than expected. A good full flavoured bitter.

Restaurant in Essex, England. Colour about old gold and ruby. Nice citrus aroma of citra. Balanced malty sweetness. Light bitterness of chinook. Easy drinking but also well built and complex. Very good cask ale. Something in between of UK and USA.

Lovely from Adnams - a brewery I don’t normally like too much. Something exciting and new.

Cask - bright amber with a lightly browned head. Aroma of tangerine, passion fruits, a little coriander seed and grass. Taste of earth, coriander and sweet tangerine with flowers and hints of honey, followed by grassy bitterness and lemon with a hint of sourness. Medium/heavy body. Super tasty.
