Bottled; Occasional. Originally brewed as a one off to celebrate the opening of our new brewhouse and our new distribution centre, we have decided to repeat the beer again in 2009. It came first in its class at the 2008 World beer awards and has also won a Gold medal at the 2008 BBI (British Bottlers Institute) awards. The beer was created under the direction of our Chairman, Jonathan Adnams, whose instruction was to ‘Brew something to wow me’. The beer, our version of an American IPA, is brewed with a blend of Wheat and Pale ale malts to give a spicy, biscuity undertone to the beer, but it is in the hops where the beer really shines. A blend of hops from England, Slovenia and America (namely Boadicea, Columbus and Stryian Goldings) combine to give a wonderful grapefruit and tropical fruit aroma and bitterness that is balanced by the sweetness of the barley.

Bottle 330ml BB: 31/09/15. Pours a gold color with no head. Taste is a typical british IPA, no resinous hops, herbal with hints of caramel. Medium bodied with very low carbonation. ok but maybe would be better with more carbonation.

Pours slightly redish/brown, not golden, small head quickly diminishes, a very unique hoppy smell, citrus with some sweet undertone. Taste is full and very mild. It doesn’t deliver the bitternes you thought it had. It is quite sweet for an ipa beer. But it is wonderfully balanced. A great beer!

Bottle. Pours a clear orange body with a small white head. Aroma is almonds, grains, caramel, faint grassy notes and hints of straw. Taste is grapefruit, resinous grass notes, faint cardboard notes, band-aids, soap, caramel and hints of red berries and pineapple. Light to medium body, soft carbonation. Strange, and seems past its prime at best.

UPDATED: OCT 11, 2014 Bottle from Marks and Spencer Team Valley. A curious one - the fruit and floral flavours are summery but there's a warming strength to it. Very nice indeed. (Branded as M and S Winter IPA)
