COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled; Occasional. Originally brewed as a one off to celebrate the opening of our new brewhouse and our new distribution centre, we have decided to repeat the beer again in 2009. It came first in its class at the 2008 World beer awards and has also won a Gold medal at the 2008 BBI (British Bottlers Institute) awards. The beer was created under the direction of our Chairman, Jonathan Adnams, whose instruction was to ‘Brew something to wow me’. The beer, our version of an American IPA, is brewed with a blend of Wheat and Pale ale malts to give a spicy, biscuity undertone to the beer, but it is in the hops where the beer really shines. A blend of hops from England, Slovenia and America (namely Boadicea, Columbus and Stryian Goldings) combine to give a wonderful grapefruit and tropical fruit aroma and bitterness that is balanced by the sweetness of the barley.

500ml brown bottle. Gold in colour, just a bit of haze. White head, good creaminess and great lacing.Nose has a light fruitiness and mild grapefruit notes. Taste has wheaty malts, trace caramel, big orangey hops with a very light spiciness. Finishes with a bit of grapefruity hops, later notes of orange peel. Bitterness plays a balancing role, not terribly agressive on the hop front, still the hop choices and wheat malt do make for a pretty tasty lighter IPA, it drinks lighter than its 6.7% abv would suggest.

gegwilson (1782) - North Yorkshire, ENGLAND - APR 6, 2015
Bottle from M&S as Southwold Winter IPA. Pours golden with a good off-white head. The aroma is promisingly grapefruit. The taste is light spice with herbal notes, a touch of pear drop and some bitter pine in the finish. Has the feel of a traditional english IPA despite the US hops. Decent but not great.

Bottle 0.33L. Deep golden body with small, frothy, off-white head, mostly diminishing with fair lacing; average density of tiny bubbles. Moderate-to-heavy bitter and moderate sweet flavour; bitterness is even more evident in the finish. Medium body with oily texture; soft carbonation.

Diabobale (271) - Vallata, SUD ITALIA, ITALY - MAR 19, 2015
