COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled; Occasional.
Originally brewed as a one off to celebrate the opening of our new brewhouse and our new distribution centre, we have decided to repeat the beer again in 2009. It came first in its class at the 2008 World beer awards and has also won a Gold medal at the 2008 BBI (British Bottlers Institute) awards. The beer was created under the direction of our Chairman, Jonathan Adnams, whose instruction was to ‘Brew something to wow me’.
The beer, our version of an American IPA, is brewed with a blend of Wheat and Pale ale malts to give a spicy, biscuity undertone to the beer, but it is in the hops where the beer really shines. A blend of hops from England, Slovenia and America (namely Boadicea, Columbus and Stryian Goldings) combine to give a wonderful grapefruit and tropical fruit aroma and bitterness that is balanced by the sweetness of the barley.

UPDATED: AUG 29, 2011 Bottle. Pale gold. I found the aroma to be very subdued and I didn’t expect much from itwhich is why I was so surprised by the powerful hop hit on the first sip. I was almost as surprised again when it didn’t really lead to much bitterness in the finish. So this a very strange APA in that it doesn’t smell like an APA but tastes very much like one at first but lacks bitterness. Still though a very refreshing and tasty APA from a surprising source.

Bottle. Clear pale amber with a small off-white head. Restrained aroma of peaches, earth., flowers, orange zest. Thinnish body with just a whisper of carbonation. Lots of aromatic hops and bitterness upfront - citrus and pine - as well as stone fruit and biscuity malt. Modest sweetness is fruit dominated, bitterness with remaining aromatics comes through at the finish. Can’t see a date on this and there’s certainly not much citrus in the nose - perhaps this was a bit past it.

50 cl bottle at Ryds Herrgård. Light, clear amber body with medium off-white head. Aroma is light US hops, grass and some malt. Dry taste with medium bitter finish. Medium bodied with OK carbonation. Very average. Nothing impressing.

Bottle at Leighton’s pre-xmas celebration. It pours clear golden yellow, with a thin white film. The nose is full of sweet fruit: orange, apricot, watermelon and star fruit. The taste is pear, melon, sweet malt, biscuit and cereal, with dryness in the finish. Medium body, moderate carbonation and syrupy mouth-feel. A bit sweet and sickening.

Orange with small white head. Bit bitter here, bit fruity there. Can’t remember much to be honest but I was disappointed.
