COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottled; Occasional.
Originally brewed as a one off to celebrate the opening of our new brewhouse and our new distribution centre, we have decided to repeat the beer again in 2009. It came first in its class at the 2008 World beer awards and has also won a Gold medal at the 2008 BBI (British Bottlers Institute) awards. The beer was created under the direction of our Chairman, Jonathan Adnams, whose instruction was to ‘Brew something to wow me’.
The beer, our version of an American IPA, is brewed with a blend of Wheat and Pale ale malts to give a spicy, biscuity undertone to the beer, but it is in the hops where the beer really shines. A blend of hops from England, Slovenia and America (namely Boadicea, Columbus and Stryian Goldings) combine to give a wonderful grapefruit and tropical fruit aroma and bitterness that is balanced by the sweetness of the barley.

Bottle: Golden to deep golden, smaller, stable off-white head, ( grape-) fruity nose with a tinge of molasses; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, medium bodied; lingering citrussy-grapefruity finish with a toasty counterweight. Good stuff…

From November 2008 (so an original brew one): Brown 500ml bottle packaged in a cardboard box made mostly from 100% post-consummer recycled waste. The tag on the neck of the bottle said ’Bottle No 7576’. My daughter brought me this bottle, in the summer, should have been drank before the end of October, so it is almost two weeks out of date! Poured into a pint sleeve glass (chilled as requested on the package). Golden cum tangarine orange colour with a very slight haze through the body. A very small off-white head soon disappeared into a scummy wisp, pity. Picked up a hoppy aroma straight away, it also dominates the taste (hops that is). The ingrediants are listed as: Malted Barley, Malted Wheat, Boadicea, Styrian Goldings and Colombus Hops, Water and yeast. It does have a light feel considering its 6.7% ABV, that must be the wheat content I suppose. Fairly high in the carbonisation stakes, but not fizzy, just a little lively for a UK bottled ale. The 6.7% is well hidden although it does appear in the aftertaste as the mouth drys a little. I can’t understand why this beer had such a short storage life. No one else is ever going to review it, what a great shame.

Incredible smell, probably the best I’ve had in a beer. Sweet caramel, totally gorgeous. But the sweetness is not balanced out enough in the taste.

Full flavoured American Pale Ale which can be slightly overbearing, but it is undeniably tasty.

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a medium-sized and slightly off-white foamy head. Fruity and slightly flowery notes of aroma hops (pineapples, passion-fruit, lemon), backed by pale malt and white bread. Mildly bitter flavour, medium to light bodied with a moderate carbonation. Pale malt-character with present notes of fruity and slightly floral hops; dry and mildly bitter finish with mainly fruity hops and a delicately medicinal touch. Nevertheless a goodie. 08.IV.12

This is very good. Deep golden colour with aroma of toffee, lemongrass and Belgian yeast. Masses of hop taste balances the sweetness. But the alcohol still comes through. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
