3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20
Cask at The Green Man, Trumpington, Cambridgeshire, under the alias of Adnams Eat Drink and be Jolly. Amber-gold. Pleasing malty aroma and taste with a little background fruit. Mid bitter finish. Nice low-gravity beer but devoid of any semblance of Christmas atmosphere, which I unkindly punished in my overall score.

Aroma of some citra hops. Not much.
Clear amber brown with small off-white head. Virtually none lasting.
Heavy bitterness and dry. Some of those citra hops. Caramel malt sweetness too.
Finish its bitter. Medium body. Good carbonation for a cask.

Again, Adnam’s has done it. This beer tastes better than any American attempt not only as bitter as a style, but at casks in general. Great dirty nose of earth and tea. Taste is pleasantly hoppy with notes of toast and restrained malt. Excellent lean beer! How it should be done all the time.
