Dark golden with a small white head. Tiny floral hop aroma. Bitter and dry flavour with a hint of caramel sweetness, and long lasting bitterness.

Cask @ the Holborn Whippet. Light golden color with a small head. THe nose is light grassy green apple, some bread and subtle sugar. The taste mild malty honey bread, yellow apples and sweet cotton candy. There’s a distinct yeast presence to this beer. Lightly buttery body. Soft carbonation. Overall, OK, though not a standout from Adnams.

Cask conditioned handpump Moon On The Square Northampton 01/05/12. A pale golden beer with a whitish head. Lightly citrus in the nose. Typical Adnams house yeast in the mouth together with lemony hops. Clean and tasty. The yeast works well with this hop bill. Some tropical fruit shows through too. Tasty.

Cask at the Blue Boar, Billericay. Pours a golden straw colour with a thin white head. Aroma is a zingy and grassy with some lime and floral notes. Medium bodied and a little dry over the tongue, a light bitterness washes through with some creamy grassy vanilla flavours ending in a wheaty tang. A dry aftertaste has a little floral hoppiness. Very refreshing and dangerously drinkable for it’s 5.0%.

Cask at the Brewery Tap, Wimbledon Village, 3rd May 2011. Bit of a bland copper English ale. Toffee malt, bit of dryness. Not too interesting but I’d drink another.

Whipped egg white atop a hazy golden ale. Eggy yeast with some citrussy fruit aromas. Slick and a little thick but nice and drying. Lemon cake.

Cask at the Market Porter. Light fruit and citrus? aromas. Tarnished gold color with a frothy white head. A bit less than medium body with smooth carbonation. Swear there’s ginger in it. Finishes lightly sweet, not quite balanced by the ginger? spice. Some kind of hottish spice - pepper? Good.

A Mes rate: Cask at The Wenlock. Lovely golden blonde with a good white head and excellent condition. Wheat, straw and hops with a slight sweetness. Bitter finish. Promises much in the beginning, delivers little in the end.
2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 hughie (3992) - Bedford, Bedfordshire, ENGLAND - MAY 19, 2007
Cask at Wellington Arms, Bedford. Amber with a small white head. Hoppy aroma with some pear. Taste is slightly astringent, though not unpleasantly so. I struggled to find the right simile. Flint? Gunmetal? Ash? Oil? None of these is quite right. Bitter finish. Fair, but it will not become my favourite Adnams beer.

Pint @ Bridge House, SE1. Light golden body, small head. Very hoppy and dry. Fruitness in the hops and some sort of tar - ish flavour; very intense and spicy. All in all a good pint.
