3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 RichardW (925) - Carlisle, Cumbria, ENGLAND - JAN 30, 2012
Cask, Lloyds, Carlisle. Good-looking dark ruby-black beer. NIce chocolatey smell and in the taste too. Does lack a bit of body, but it’s smooth, semi-sweet and reasonably satisfying. Been a long while since I last had this and it’s good to see it again.

A dark, chocolatey brown beer with a thick white head. The nose is strong, malty with sweet caramel tones and a hint of liquorice. The taste is again strong on sweet malt. There is a distinct bittersweet note to the smooth finish. (Draught - The Lifeboat, Thornham, Norfolk).
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 kwik-lime (645) - London, ENGLAND - NOV 19, 2011
Dark and malty, fairly bitter with some sweetness in the finish and a hint of liqorice. Nice beer.

Cask @ JDW Elgin
Very dark brown...ruby light through....light tan head...good lacing
Aroma of sweet dark caramel malts
Taste - Sweet dark carammel malts...dark fruits..soft toffee...almost no hops...emphasis on malts....well blended and very moreish
Palate - very soft carb...dark sweet malts...very very smooth..thin to medium body...great mouthfeel. Finish - more dark malts and silky smoothness
Overall - Great smooth malty beer for 4.1% and very quaffable. Was in top notch condition.

Cask by handpump at Last Post, Paisley (6 Jan 12) - pours mahogany colour with a good cream head and no discernible aroma, hint of nut / chocolate flavour with a musty bitter aftertaste.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 greenmanalishi (424) - Leicestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 10, 2011
Malty caramels, raisin, milk, bit of liquorice spice, but still blander that I was hoping for, and I’m not sure it was in the best condition off the cask.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 Frenger (211) - Derby, Alabama, ENGLAND - JAN 20, 2012
Off tap off a bar in norwich. Looks like it should be tasty but really tastes of very little. Shame.
4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 RichardWilding (201) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 1, 2004
Draught.
An excellent beer. Not much head to start, no head retention.
Chocolate, roasty flavours tasted, with a hint of dark fruit.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Rodders (137) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - FEB 11, 2009
(Handpump at Saracens Head, Diss) Pint looked pretty good - dark red colour with an off white almost beige head with a good speckled appearence. Smelled average, malt and plum. Well balanced malty taste with a hint of choclate and a dryish finish. Pretty average, but I’d drink this over Broadside, their premium bitter.
