3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle as M&S Southwold. A very decent bitter, malty , fruity, could easily pass for a 4.0%. On the other hands, more and crisper hops would have made a very interesting beer.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Deep amber with a fine though fast-settling head and aromas of dry hops and fresh malt. Crisp and hoppy, the body is initially a bit watery, like an alcohol-free, the excessive gassiness doesn’t help either. As it progresses some biscuity malt emerges, it’s mostly bitter-forward though.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appearance: Clear ruby with ivory cm head.
Aroma: Citrus (lemon/lime), biscuit, floral and hint of caramel.
Taste: Low sweetness, medium bitterness and sourness.
Palate: Thick smooth texture, light/medium body, prickly carbonation, and astringent lingering malty citrus finish with tartness.
Comments: Very tasty and very flavoursome and aromatic for such a low strength beer.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
(Bottle) Clear dark copper / amber with short-lived slight off white head. Pleasant aroma of citrusy hops. Light body, rather fizzy. Taste is good, but a little thin. There is a pleasant caramel malt at the start and then a fruity tang comes in to be replaced with a decent amount of hoppy bitterness in the finish. Overall, for a lower alcohol beer this is excellent, however on the face of it it is a little thin.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
500ml Bottle bought for me by my son-in-law (knowing I’d never buy such a beer): BBD 31 Mar 2014, poured into an ’Old Speckled Hen’ badged vase shaped pint glass on 19 Aug 2013.
Just had a heavy Chinese take-away and need something light: this was in the beer cooler.
Looks fine: a good solid copper/amber body with a thin white head, the beer appeared bright and clean.
Pleasant biscuity malt aroma with a mild floral feel.
The taste is also on the malt biscuit side of things and it is only mid-mouthful that the alcohol content lets the brew down and you realise how watery the actual beer is.
It is fine for my needs at the moment: after that Chinky: however I’d be less impressed if I’d been served it in a pub or at a mates house.
