Clear amber beer with a thin head. A mild aroma with a citric edge to it. The flavour is also not especially strong though that’s probably to be expected. Citrusy and slightly hoppy as well, it’s not anything special but it’s quite pleasant for a fairly low-alcohol beer.

Bottle at home. Dark copper colour. Aroma is malty with slight floral and citrus notes. Watery mouthfeel. It's alright especially seeing how low the ABV is. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a dark copper with a creamy white head. Rich malty smell and a refreshing bitter taste.

A bit too watery for me. Was expecting a big bomb of aroma and medium full body with a very low ABV. Sorry, not for me.

Small offwhite head. Clear brown still body. Grape and gooseberry aroma with spicy herbal notes. Dryish salty spicy gooseberry taste with resiny notes. Light body. Mild, soft mouthfeel. Dryish salty resiny caramel aftertaste with earthy spicy notes. A bit watery. Nice, drinkable. (0.5l bottle, from Marks and Spencer, London. Called "Adnams Southwold 2.7%.")

Bottle from local supermarket. Low alcohol only 2.7%, there is low tax. Flair has nice hops, and citrus sharpness. Ok but a touch watery.

Bottle from Budgens, Wendover. Smells promising, fruity and grassy notes. Pours a light orange colour, with a fairly quickly diminishing head. Very watery and majorly lacking in flavour, not Adnams best by any means

Bottle @ Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig. The pour’s gold with a small head. The aroma’s disappointing. Clearly this has seen better days. More paper, bread. Little else to distinguish it. The taste is moderately bread. Just a touch of hay and countryside hoppiness. Orange and toffee. Medium body, soft carbonation. Not bad as far as bottled bitters go.

Bottle at the pre Bamberg tune up in the Sham, as M&S Southwold 2.7% from M&S Cardinal Place, 23/01/14. Dark amber with thin off white spotting/edgework. Nose is straw, light caramel, touch of hops, toasted malt, light orange. Taste comprises light parma violet notes, mineral tones, bitter orange, straw, faint grapefruit. Light bodiment, fine carbonation, a little watery. Ok for a 2.7% offering though.

Pre Bamberg bash tasting at Colin’s house with Mr Bois and James. Thanks Colin. Clear amber beer, residual pale cream coloured head. Minerally crisp palate. Thin malt and very light citric hops. Touch of paper. Carbonated sting. Whisper of violets (thanks Colin). Minerally crisp finish. Somehow it works!
