A light floral / citrus aroma, gentle caramel notes and a good level of bitterness. Sole Star is named after the brightest star in our sky – the sun – which rises first over the East Coast and the Sole Bay Brewery each morning.

Cask conditioned handpump Adelphi Leeds 02/05/12. An amber coloured beer with a tight white head. Nice berry fruity hops throughout. A noticeable lack of alcohol but the hop flavours are good. No sign of the usual Adnams house yeast flavour. An honourabkle beer.

Hand pulled at the Rose Villa Tavern, Birmingham. Yep, I’m going to fall in line with other raters and declare this a very good low abv beer. Amber coloured, with a creamy head, this is a caramelly, very malty beer. But, but the malt is not sickly nor artificial, it feels a bit nutty and has a blade of pepper. Clean, fresh and easy to drink.

Very pleasant for a weak beer. Definite hint of caramel in both aroma and taste. Would go well with simple food (Ploughman’s etc.)

Cask, Slug & Lettuce, Leicester. Amber brown with a cream foam. Aromas are caramel and gooseberry with green leaves. Lemon with weetabix and spices. Flavours are floral with lemon and dry, green leafiness. Peppery on the finish. Tasty for its strength.
