Available (pasteurised) in 500ml bottles and 500ml cans.
A refreshing beer of real flavour - distinctively hoppy and dry with malt aromas. Delicious served cool.
Adnams brewery has stood in the heart of Southwold for over six hundred years and "Southwold Jack" appears on our beer labels. He continues to guard over our longest-serving beer brewed here in Southwold on the Suffolk coast -The Bitter. Bitter goes well with roast meats and fish cooked in batter as the clean bitterness cuts through the slightly fatty notes and hence keeps the palate refreshed. Our Bitter also makes a good aperitif.

500 ml can bought @ Systembolaget and consumed on December 10. Pours clear amber with a big fizzy white head that slowly dissipates leaving some lacing on the glass. Smell is malty sweet and slightly hoppy with caramel, pine and lemon zest. Taste is sweet and slightly bitter with caramel, metal, orange zest and hints of resin. Finish is slightly sweet and slightly bitter.

Clear, dark amber beer, frothy/lacy head. Fresh, sweetish herbal and fruity yeasty nose, hints of lemon, fresh peach, orange and pollen. Some caramel notes. Starts fruity, slightly caramelly and bitterish, finishes dryish woody and medium bitter and slightly woody with light notes of caramel. Soft, lust texture, medium body. Nice, fruity bitter.

Can, brought home from Systembolaget, Charlottenberg. A good-looking amber/red pour, with a cap of tiny blond bubbles. Initial aroma of tea leaves, then a whiff of lightly toasted malts. Taste is soft malty, fairly dry with suggestions of creamed caramel. Mild bittering hops in the backbone. Less than medium full. Feels slick in the mouth. Fine bitter tones in the finish. A more than decent canned Bitter. I’ll certainly seek for the cask version.

Small head. Shallow aroma, low bitterness, only traces of hops. A very bleak bitter, good as a meal companion but not much more.

Bottle from Vaaland, Bryne. Pours clear dark amber with a small off-white head. Aroma is weak malty. Taste is light sweet malty, caramel and toffee, a watery mouthfeel doesn´t make this beer stand out in any way. Light bitter end.

imdownthepub (10653) - Banbury, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - NOV 14, 2011
Bottled, 500ml from Sainsbury’s, Banbury. Amber with white head. Light, malty beer, some pasteurisation note a hint of wet carboard, but nicely bitter with a hint of peppery, leafy hop. All a little understated, but reasonable enough.

500 ml bottle, from Vaaland, Bryne. ABV is 4.1%. Copper coloured beer, moderate off-white head. Moderate aroma, some malts and toffee, hints of stale berries and "dusty" hops. The flavour has again some malts and toffee, but is quite dry. Just a hint of fruit. Moderately bitter hops in the finish, some nutty notes. Drinkable, but not Adnams’ best.

larsniclas (5743) - Billdal, SWEDEN - NOV 4, 2011
Canned from Systembolaget Clear deep golden with a large tan head. Metallic aroma with some grassy hops and vegetable-notes. Fresh mouthfeel. Floral. Some sweet toffee along with piney hops. Some spiciness aswell; wormwood?
