A refreshing beer of real flavour - distinctively hoppy and dry with malt aromas. Delicious served cool. Adnams brewery has stood in the heart of Southwold for over six hundred years and "Southwold Jack" appears on our beer labels. He continues to guard over our longest-serving beer brewed here in Southwold on the Suffolk coast -The Bitter. Bitter goes well with roast meats and fish cooked in batter as the clean bitterness cuts through the slightly fatty notes and hence keeps the palate refreshed. Our Bitter also makes a good aperitif. Available (pasteurised) in 500ml bottles and 500ml cans.

Bottle split with Pedro. Pours a clean amber with fluffy, lasting beige head and webbed lace. Nose of fruit, apples, floral hop. Moderate to light bitterness, medium body. Very fruity and sweet.

Aroma - the aroma is strictly caramel malt Appearance - body is caramel colored amber; liquid is the slightest bit hazy; and the white head setups about 1/4" and fades quickly, leaving a thin layer of foam on top of the body. Taste - the malt is a little caramel, slightly nutty, and with very lean spiced hops. It is also rather thin, for a watery quality. Palate - the body is light; the texture thin and watery; the carbonation is below average; the finish is really wet and just slightly bitter, the spiced bitterness does hang on for a lengthy period

Pretty simple but enjoyable bitter with very earthy flavours and pretty malty on the palate. Wouldn’t go out of my way to drink it but pleasant enough.

Pours Amber in color. Little head. Light citrus, bread, caramel aromas. Taste is a little skunky which could be the bottle I got. It’s average, I prefer fullers esb over this.

Aroma: Light malt character overall- slight cider and caramel with a dose of wood and a leafy quality. Kinda reminds me a bit of Rooibos tea, in a good way. Appearance: Still copper/amber body with a thin, bubbly coating of tan head. Flavor: Light caramel and a touch of walnuts; lemony, leafy hop quality takes over more toward the finish with a surprisingly present bitterness. Palate: Medium body, creamy texture, flat carbonation, bitter finish. Overall: A nice bottled bitter.

Orange amber appearance with medium head. Citrus caramel aroma, medium sweetness, decent bitterness, overall rounded. Good Bitter style beer.

Lätt men ändå relativt smakrik. Ingen efterbeska, svag röknyans. På det hela taget en hyfsad öl i klassen.

Bottle. Slightly murky orange amber pour with a smaller but persistent head. Earthy, grassy, and bready elements in this. Doesn’t finish terribly dry. Okay.
