I grew up with this beer, so may b a little biased ;] Wholly English in both looks and aromas, most notably of fine set honey. It holds lovely barnyard flavours all the way through with dusty straw and the smell of chickens (in a good way). Smooth and easy-drinking session.

Mid-brown beer with distinct, hoppy aroma leading almost imperceptibly to a sharp metalic (not a criticism...) flavour. Hops dominate the malt and lead to a long, bitter finish. Hardly subtle but an excellent beer nonetheless.

Aug 2006: I was very lucky, my parents had a caravan positioned in Southwold every summer. Drinking Adnams bitter in ’The Sole Bay Inn’, which is across the village green from the brewery is about as good as it gets! The beer has a mid-brown colour, which seems to change, almost light-brown, if the sun comes out and you are sat on one of the three benches outside. Hops and malty flavours battle it out in every mouthful, to let you know that a good quality British bitter is in your hand. The sights and smell of the brewery, help to ensure the beer just flows down the throat, this is a great session bitter and ideal for lunchtime drinking, while people watching, during a sunny English summers day (not that we get many).
