In The Wharf, Macclesfield. My new local, itís mint. Pale gold with a thin off white head. Aroma is sweet, little spice. Flavour is a bit too perfume, it tastes like a handbag cocktail. I probably wonít try it again.

The Sun Inn, Kelvedon. Summer Beer Fest. Hazy amber beer, residual white head. Palate is smooth and low carbonation and slightly viscous. Sweetish orange with mellow bubblegum ester. Trace of lemon. Finishes smooth. Nice flavour but the palate is stodgy.

Cask at the Swan, Hammersmith during yet another rain break at Queens, 15/06/13. Lightly hazed pale golden with a thin white head. Nose is banana, caramel, sugars, trip orange. Taste comprises summer fruit sundae, banana, wheat, light spice. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dryish finish. Ok for what it is.

Really bad. Surprisingly so. Looked good didnít it Danny; if not good then interesting. Well it wasnít. Poorly executed, banana flavor artificial, thin and not good enough.

A light gold slightly opalescent ale with a creamy white head. Aroma of sweet floral notes. Taste a mild soft bitterness.

Cask @ Haymarket, Edinburgh [070513]
Amber, clear, thin white head
Aroma of soft cloves, soft wheat cereal, bit aromatic, light fruits
Taste as aroma, pale malts, soft fruits, the aromatic clovey flavour is quite subtle which I like
Palate - Thinnish body, fairly oily. Finish as main flavour, soft linger
Overall - Competent if unremarkable hefe

Tasted this at the Auctioneers, Glasgow in May 2013. Cask, handpump dispense. Opaque pale amber in colour with a thin loose white head. Slight note of hop flowers in the short aroma and little else. Thin mouthfeel and poor lacing. Pale malts give a weak teabiscuit base with just a hint of sweetness coming through. bitter hop resins evident with floral overtones. Finish is slightly malty with a sour acetic note in the mouth. Not impressed with this Wheat Ale.

Clear amber colour with a small white head. Good aroma of ripe banana and cloves. Initial citrussy flavour gives way to a peppery aftertaste. An interesting and engaging beer, itís a great interpretation of a Kristalweizen.

[Cask at the Belle Vue, High Wycombe] Pale amber with a moderate white head and a nice frothy mouthfeel. Banana, clove and yeast, backed up with a decent richness from the Adnams malt. Iím not normally a big fan of wheat beers, but enjoyed this despite the sweetness. A decent attempt at a Kristalweizen - I definitely think it should be classified as that rather than a "mere" wheat ale. Nice to have something different to your run of the mill UK beers.
