2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 Chiswick (137) - Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 2, 2012
Orange/yellow, very clear liquid, pours no head. I have to say that i am loving the blue bottle, a very nice touch. Aromascape is filled with mild citrusy flavours, gentle malt, caramel, herbs and wood. The taste is pleasantly crispy with bitterness and supported well with gentle sourness. The sweet side is tame and mild but works well in bringing those initial aromas to life without cracking the bitterness. Still, the taste just feels too mild and too stingy regarding balance at the same time. The body is light and the overall palate is very thin. It manages to avoid feeling negatively watery, and instead goes decently well with the dryness of the beer. Unfortunately everything seems a bit meaningless and offset, not being able to create a character or purpose. Everything just seems to be a bit too mild, weak and lost. Nonetheless, a rather enjoyable blond(ish) beer that goes nicely with food.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s. Pours a golden yellow colour with a thin white head, malty skunky aroma, the taste is malty with some fruit with a dry bitter finish.

Bottle from Booth’s. Cool blue bottle, pale yellowish golden beer, interesting use of wheat in the mix, quenching ale, some fresh fruity flavours. Not amazing but a good one for summer.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 JorisPPattyn (6428) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - DEC 25, 2011
Shortlived nondescript head over coppery orange, clear beer. Caramel, even toffee in the nose, buttery (touch of diacetyl), but also honey, clover and sweet pale malts. Demure, but fairly complex, delicate nose. Bitterish, hops, but on oxydized pale malts. Metallic tang. Malt underbuild clashes with the metallic bitterness, instead of blending. Bit of honey returning. Distinct peppery aftertaste, on top of the lingering maltsweetness. Light body, dead beer. Taste is not in balance. The nose, however, is inviting and the peppery finish intriguing. Is this now, what the Unitedkingdommers call a bluebottle?
