2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 tdtm82 (668) - Essex, ENGLAND - MAR 18, 2011
Appearance is dark golden with rapidly diminishing lacing, Aroma is floral hops, lemon, pine, white wine grapes but dom’t know why. Taste is lemon, wood, spples, floral, bitter, really nothing going on here I am afraid. Maybe skanked. Really stupid bottle colour. Probably light shot too. Nice bottle design but purple?? This is not an alcopop. Bottle - Tescos.

330ml gay purple bottle (Drink Shop, Tallinn)
6+ Rich sweet nutty malty aroma, a touch husky and hoppy. Does smell like a beer.
3 Clear orange, brief fizzy head.
6 Retronasals have some sweet fruity and citrussy hops, but also some swimming-pool tinges. Taste has some sweet bready base, but a nice bite of citrussy hops, but they’re a bit processes, not live enough.
3 Watery palate, crisp carbonation. Pleasantly citrussy and grassy finish, but there’s a bit of alcohol there too.
12- Probably started off an OK beer, but they’ve filtered out any life or balls this may ever have had. Don’t do that!

Bottle. Bronze beer with a light head. The aroma is lightly hopped with a slight hint of malt. The flavour is more strongly hopped, bitter and toffee. Overall an average hopped and toffee bitter.

[330ml bottle from Adnams Cellar & Kitchen shop, Holt, Norfolk] Rather natty blue bottle. Pours amber-gold, small white head, moderate but prickly fizz. Smells like the better class of macro lager, and at first tastes of it too, with a slightly watery mouthfeel. Soon a rich malty lemon flavour comes through, yet it still manages to finish crisp, clean and dry. Probably a great transition beer for lager drinkers, as it definitely has both lager and ale characteristics. Nevertheless, it’s decent enough to hold the interest of the more serious drinker if they’re looking for a light refreshing summer drink. Not one of Adnams better offerings, but still decent - the superb Adnams malt wins me over as ever!

Keg at The Red Lion, Southwold, Suffolk. Gold to amber with white fizzes head. Sharp, thin and tinny bitter with plenty of CO2 for the lager boys. A sharp thin malt note in the background. Not something I would try again.
