3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 The_Bish (153) - - MAY 24, 2012
The most pointless bottle in history of bottles. Get over yourselves. This is ok, not interesting.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Pyobon (566) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - MAY 18, 2012
(bottle) Clear golden, little head. Aroma is primarily citrus with grassy notes. Light body, medium carbonation. Flavour status with citrus balanced by light malt, moving to a slightly hoppy finish hat has a seaweed / grass character. Falls a bit lat in the fnish. Overall, refreshing and pleasant.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 strawman (12) - - MAY 2, 2012
Golden wheat beer, bottle from Sainsbury’s. Damp grass in the aroma, with notes of straw of the palate. The wheat comes through very clean and as such is very refreshing. Head retention quite poor and no lacing to speak of.
Would try again if I saw on cask.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 MoritzF (7342) - Bochum, GERMANY - APR 30, 2012
(bottle, 33cl) Clear, deep golden colour with a mid-sized off-white foamy head. Mildly cara-malty aroma with notes of grassy and slightly fruity hops, also hints of wet cardboard. Moderately bitter flavour, dry mouthfeel, light to medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Slightly papery malty base with traces of caramel and present grassy and herbal hops; dry and moderately bitter hoppy finish, again slightly papery. 08.IV.12
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 SilkTork (4736) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - APR 30, 2012
330ml attractive blue bottle from Sainsbury. Because of the bottle size, I assumed this was going to be a strong beer, something like a barley wine, but it turns out to be a 5% top-fermented lager. Very bland. Not a lot going on. Few hops. Dry, indifferent malt. Powdery bitterness in the finish. Not really into this at all.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20 Idiosynkrasie (498) - Bielefeld, GERMANY - APR 25, 2012
330ml bottle. Clear orangey golden colour with small frothy, minimally lacing, white head. Grainy, slightly wheaty and bitter hoppy aroma with a fresh lemongrass note. Fresh taste, decent sweetness, a touch of orange. Light-bodied, but a very drinkable thirst quencher.
2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Marduk (376) - ESTONIA - APR 23, 2012
330ml blue bottle. Dark yellowish color. Small white head, stays. Fresh malts aroma. Tastes fruity and sweet. Mild. Sidenote: I love that blue bottle.
2.3 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 BlackHaddock (1709) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - APR 18, 2012
June 2010: 330ml Blue bottle. The rear label claims this is a bright blonde English beer brewed with East Anglian malted barley and wheat and hopped with English Hedgerow and other aromatic hops. The beer is dry and crisp with aromas of tropical fruit.
OK, time to open it. I’ve chilled it a bit, hope it doesn’t mind!
Poured into a ’Hoegaarden’ Grand Cru stemmed tulip glass.
Deep golden (almost lagerish), clear and bright, white head, losing ground very quickly. No head left by the time I’d typed this in! Maybe it doesn’t like being too cold?
There is a hint of citrusy lemony smells but not much, certainly no malt flavours in the aroma or taste. None of the promised tropical aromas either.
The taste is citrus fruits, dry and refreshing, good job it’s a sunny, warm day, as this is a summer style beer, not a winter warmer type drink. The front label tells me it ’evokes images of sea spray blown off a cresting wave’, I’d better get my sou’wester before I get wet then.
Not overly impressed, I wish Adnams would stick to their original, regular brews. They didn’t play the guest beer/seasonal beer game until a few years ago, now it would seem they brew stuff just for the sake of it sometimes.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20 Martin243 (238) - Tyne & Wear, ENGLAND - APR 8, 2012
330ml bottle served cool. Golden with a white head. Some grapefruit in the flavour. My problem with this is that I feel like it’s trying to emulate Brewdog Punk IPA, and falling quite short. Not unpleasant, but nothing special.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ethereal (2399) - Los Angeles, California, USA - APR 1, 2012
330ml bottle at the Butcher’s Grill, Wimbledon Village, 3rd May 2011 and same at home, 20th Oct 2011. Clear gold to copper looks. Forgettable nose. Sweet malt and a definite melon hint in the mouth. Very easy drinking for 5% ABV.
