A relatively easy downer for the style, and nicely made with orange caramel and licorice... roasty in the end.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2013 2011 vintage. Pours a clear very dark brown with some big initial off white head that mellows into a small off white ring around the glass and leaves a decent amount of sticky lace up the glass. Aromas of rasins, prunes and other dark fruits, caramel. Flavours of deeply toasted malts, bready, nutty, toffee, dark fruits, some alcohol warming, caramel, molasses, moderate earthy bitterness and a dry finish. Interesting english barley wine, I didn’t know what to expect here on the low end of the abv spectrum.

Waiting for the UFOs and sipping on an unashamedly strong winter warmer. Mahogany with thin brown skiff. Sort of a flat unspiced Christmas cake scent. More spice in the flavour and dark bready molasses notes. Let it warm and a nice earth and roots bitterness emerges.
