bartlebier (1640) - Belchum im Breisgau, GERMANY - OCT 6, 2013
33cl bottle from Mondial de la bière shop, Mulhouse. Pours indeed a ruby mahogani with beige head. Nose of raisins and plums, interestingly complemented in the taste by salt toffee, soy, back palate hop bitterness, molasses. Characterful UK barley wine, catching the continental EU/US educated palate somewhat off guard.

330ml bottle from Beer Hawk - A deep red body, thin tan head. Nose of molasses and caramel, with a hint of dark cake fruits. The taste is warming, very rich and well rounded, lots of booze in the finish. A good one, not for a session though.

Osprey87 (1602) - WALES - AUG 8, 2013
2012 Bottle. Pours very dark with minimal head. Smell is old ale, molasses, some indistinct fruits, maybe cherry, and yeast. But the biggest smell I’m getting is bubblegum. Medium bodied, a little frothy. Taste is bubblegum, a bit sharp, metallic. Taste is not as complex as the smell. This is an interesting beer, but it’s not my cup of tea.
